Domestic violence (DV) isn’t just a private issue—it’s a community crisis, and it’s happening right here.
In Boulder County, domestic violence is the third most prevalent crime, and Longmont reports a disproportionately high number of cases relative to its population. The reality is not only persistent—it’s getting worse.
At Safe Shelter, we are witnessing a disturbing rise in both the frequency and severity of domestic violence, including a spike in intimate partner strangulation, one of the most dangerous predictors of lethal violence.
DV is r.e.a.l. It’s local. It demands action.
