How We Use Your Contributions
We accept donations for general operating costs
and for specific programs. If you wish to give to a specific program,
please note which program when donating online, or on your check or
in the space provided on the Donation
Form (pdf) if you are mailing your donation.
Please be assured that $0.86 of every dollar is
used to provide direct services for the victims of domestic violence
at Safe Shelter. If you would like to see how we spend your money, review
the 2006
Annual Report (pdf).
Your donations make it possible for Safe Shelter
to provide protection, intervention and support to women and children
impacted by domestic violence.
$50 provides a personal care kit of toothbrush,
toothpaste, soap, hairbrush, diapers and a change of clothing for a
victim who has fled her home with no money.
$100 provides dinner for women and children living in our domestic
violence shelter.
$150 allows a child to have a medical exam.
$250 provides counseling to a child who has witnessed a violent
act.
$500 allows a victims advocate to prepare a victim for
a court appearance and to support the victim in court.
$1,000 hires an attorney for a domestic violence victim who cannot
afford legal fees.
Donations of appliances, household items and other
materials are a tremendous support to our programs. For more information,
please see our wish list. Items
may be dropped off at our Outreach Office during normal business hours:
8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., Monday through
