Are You Abused?

Abusive Relationships are characterized by Fear! Power! Control!
There are at least seven kinds of abuse:

Psychological Abuse
• Throwing things
• Slamming doors
• Driving recklessly
• Breaking personal items
• Trying to hit partner with car
• Breaking objects
• Punching walls or doors
• Kicking furniture, car or walls
• Threatening with an object
• Locking partner out of the house
• Tearing or destroying clothes
• Intimidation
• Accusations of insanity
• Threatening to harm her or others
• Threatening to kidnap her or the children
• Harassing her
• Killing pets
• Destroying property

Emotional Abuse
• Constant criticism
• Constant belittling
• Humiliating her in public and in private
• Ignoring
• The silent treatment
• Putting her down
• Threatening suicide

Verbal Abuse
• Ridiculing her most cherished beliefs, e.g., religion
• Insulting her race, heritage, or class
• Shouting at her
• Being sarcastic
• Name calling
• Yelling
• Insulting family and friends
• Laughing at her

Isolation
• Cutting her off from friends
• Cutting her off from family
• Controlling what she does
• Controlling whom she sees
• Controlling whom she talks to
• Controlling where she goes
• Controlling every aspect of her life
