Abusive Relationships are characterized by 
Fear! Power! Control!
There are at least seven kinds of abuse:

Psychological Abuse
• Throwing things
• Slamming doors
• Driving recklessly
• Breaking personal items
• Trying to hit partner with car
• Breaking objects
• Punching walls or doors
• Kicking furniture, car or walls
• Threatening with an object
• Locking partner out of the house
• Tearing or destroying clothes
• Intimidation
• Accusations of insanity
• Threatening to harm partner or others
• Threatening to kidnap partner or the children
• Harassing phone calls, emails or texts
• Killing pets
• Destroying property 

Emotional Abuse

• Constant criticism
• Constant belittling
• Humiliating their partner in public and in private
• Ignoring
• The silent treatment
• Putting others down
• Threatening suicide 

Verbal Abuse
• Ridiculing their partners beliefs or religion
• Insulting their race, heritage, or class
• Shouting
• Being sarcastic
• Name calling
• Yelling
• Insulting family and friends
• Laughing at others

Isolation
• Cutting partner off from friends and family
• Controlling what their partner does
• Controlling whom their partner sees
• Controlling whom their partner talks to
• Controlling where their partner goes
• Controlling every aspect of their partner's life
